AYAMGA'S FOLDER: One Village,One Dam Long Over Due!

The campaign promise of one village, one dam by the current government if really implemented, would a give a monumental sigh of relief to residents of Tumu. The  district capital of Sissala East District of the upper West Region of Ghana. Residents of Tumu and it's environs have been in a shock of their life ,seeing the only dam dry up to the muddy level. This dam was a source of drinking water to both people and animals since the acute water shortage hits tumu town. Other users  include construction workers both buildings and road works. Cattle owners in neighboring Burkina Faso do migrate to Tumu every dry season to have access to water in the dam. The sudden disappearance of water in the dam seem to be a mystery to people including elders who saw it's Genesis. Is it a sign of calamity ahead? Did it dried up due to pressure from users? Is there something that ought to have been done to averred this situation?is it a change in the weather?  Do we conclude is an effect of climate change?
Whatever the cause may be, we can't wait to have our one village, one dam from government to averred any unforeseen hardship. They unemployed youth who hitherto go into dry season gardening to make a living have been rendered idle and would definitely be engaged by the devil if care is not taken. A concern of relocating has been expressed by many people in Tumu, for the old dam was just a stone throw from the main station. It would therefore be appropriate to relocate any new dam if intended  to the outskirts of the town. the existence of the dam forms an Integral part of the daily lives of the people and hence should be treated with urgency.
