Sangbaka is a small farming community in the Buwa traditional area of the Sissala West District of the Upper West Region. The community has a threshold population of about 450; the people depend solely on self-created paths to reach out to neighboring communities and it’s quite a distance .Sangbaka community is always inaccessible during every raining season and thus makes life unbearable. The unavailability a motor able road, electricity and other social amenities such as a health facility has been a source of worry to the people especially pregnant women.
Sick people especially pregnant women trek long distance to access antenatal and postnatal care and hence has been deterred by the un-motorable nature of their paths. This untold situation has culminated in a number of delivery in the bush by women in labour.
Several appeals to duty bearers by the Niator divisional chief, Kuoro Barechi Nlowie Baninye ii have been futile. All this was a said by the chief during the big festival of the Buwa traditional area ‘’Buwaa Kelwie festival’’ where there was a spectacular display of culture by participating communities . Hon. Amidu Chinnia Issahaku, the Upper West Deputy Region minister was the special guest of honor.
The chief also took the opportunity to again appeal to duty bearers to arrest the situation of the Sangbaka people by getting them a health facility and also making the accessible to the rest of the communities.
