The president's MCE nominee has been overwhelmingly endorsed though he could not obtain 100%. The voting could not have come off had a presiding member not been elected on the same day. The assembly members were compelled to elect a presiding member (PM) to lead the house before any other business of the day. The new PM steered the affairs of the house to endorse the president's nominee.
The business of the day got to its climax in evening when they had to vote. so after voting and counting ,Hon. Mustapha a farmer by profession, in his early forties and the assembly member for Dapaafo electoral area at Sekyedumase garnered 43 votes for yes, 16 for no, and 1 rejected all out of 60 votes to be the PM.
Just immediately after electing the PM, it got to the time of the main business of the day which was to endorse the president's MCE nominee in the person of Mohammed Salisu Bamba,the former member of parliament for Ejura/Sakyedumase Municipal on the NPP ticket. After a successful election the nominee secured 50 votes out of 60 representing 83.33% .
MCE endorsed gave his acceptance speech and In his speech he promised to lead a united house and would make development of the municipal his priority. He also called on all well meaning people to always knock on his doors at any time for he is the listening type. He could not end without expressing his appreciation to the current MP Hon. Bawa Barimah who though is an MP on NDC ticket campaigned vigorously for the MCE'S endorsement. He pledged to have a fruitful working relationship with the sitting MP for the betterment of the municipality.
